St. Thomas Marriage Proposal: Ritz Carlton

‘Tis the season for surprise proposals! I get several surprise proposal photography shoots per year. They’re always so fun. Adam contacted me a little while ago to book a session for his surprise proposal. He and his now fiancé, Kristina, were staying at The Ritz Carlton, St. Thomas. That’s where he planned to pop the question. 

Adam and I decided that the best light would be just before sunset, so that’s what we did. Check out some of my favorite photos from this St. Thomas Photography Session! 

I always wonder how the person who is doing the proposing gets their significant other to make the trek to where they’re going to ask. Adam didn’t have any trouble getting Kristina to the proposal area. She had no idea! 

It’s one of my favorite photographs—to capture the face that the surprised party makes when they’re being asked to get married. Kristina’s face was extra adorable. She was so excited and immediately said yes! You could tell that she was completely surprised.

We then moved on to take photos around the property. There are many beautiful photogenic places on The Ritz property, but I especially love the rocks. 

In between photos, Kristina couldn’t take her eyes off that ring! I don’t blame her, it’s quite beautiful. 

St. Thomas Engagement Photos: Lindquist Beach

Lindquist Beach on St. Thomas is one of my favorite beaches in the Caribbean. I get to do St. Thomas weddings here all the time. Recently, I got to do an engagement session with such an adorable couple! 

Thomas and Amber got engaged while aboard their ship in Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic. Thomas' mother decided to surprise Amber with an engagement photo shoot when they were at port in St. Thomas. She also provided some really cute props for the shoot--ideas she got off Pinterest.

It was a dreary and rainy day on Lindquist Beach, but these guys didn't mind. They seized the day and made it work for them. These pictures prove that you really can see the beauty in each day, no matter what's going on. 

The love that Amber and Thomas have for one another shone through the gray clouds that day to make it a much brighter day on the beach for their engagement. A few dark clouds didn’t damper this couple’s day, the high level of excitement, love, and humor about their upcoming nuptials easily lit up the entire beach. 

St Thomas Surprise Proposal

Surprise proposals are always a fun way to spend my days! I feel like paparazzi hiding in the bushes waiting for that one special moment that two people will remember for the rest of their lives. As a St. Thomas photographer, it's one of the most enjoyable ways to photograph two people who love each other. 

I recently shot an engagement for these two handsome men on Limetree Beach. Dominic and Ed came to St. Thomas on a cruise ship. Dominic contacted me a few weeks before they were scheduled to dock in St. Thomas to see if he could put something together for their surprise proposal. I immediately suggested Limetree Beach because it's so close to the cruise ship and it's a beautiful spot for photos! 

Having no idea of the surprise that awaited him, Ed wanted to wear his swimwear off the ship. Dominic persisted by telling him he needed to wear his khaki shorts and his Hawaiian shirt (which I love).

When they got to the beach Dominic got on one knee, the world stopped for me to get this perfect shot. Ed finally understood what was going on and of course said YES! We then spent the next hour documenting their love for one another.

It was such a joy and an honor to be a part of this day with these guys. We hope to see them back in the near future for their destination St. Thomas wedding!
